Score 89+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2004

(16.5% alcohol) Deep ruby-red. Reticent aroma dominated by kirsch Fat, thick and huge, with superripe flavors verging on heavy. A bit muted by alcohol, and not yet making its voice heard. Finishes with building tannins.

Score 90-93/100 · Drink 2003-2011, Robert Parker, Dec 2003

Possessing tremendous finesse for a Zinfandel as well as surprising elegance given its 16.5% alcohol, the 2002 Zinfandel Mead Ranch Atlas Peak (400 cases) exhibits wonderful aromas of blueberries and blackberries, a distinctive smoky earthiness (probably due to the fact this vineyard is organically farmed and planted in red volcanic soil), admirable purity, and super palate presence. It should age beautifully for 7-8 years. NOTE: This is an estimated price per bottle. Tel. (707) 963-0940; Fax (707) 963-8683
