Tasting notes
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has an exquisite bouquet that manages to combine the essence of the growing season and the terroir without tipping too much on either side. Thus, it is endowed with a sense of harmony. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity—cohesive, with an underlying mineralité . This is not enormously long, but there is a fine bitterness that marries with its intrinsic richness to create a complete Nuits Saint-Georges. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

(from a 1.1 ha parcel of 55+ year old vines). Here too there is just enough wood to mention on the equally ripe liqueur-like aromas of red and dark berries, spice and pungent earth scents. The slightly sleeker and tautly muscular flavors aren’t quite as big-bodied though there is plenty of size and weight to them while complementing the structured, serious and mineral-driven finale. This too will require extended patience if you wish to see it at its apogee. (91-94)/2036+
The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very well-defined, complex bouquet that puts the preceding Les Vaucrains in its place. Here there is clearly greater focus and terroir expression, subtle sous-bois scents permeating the black and red fruit. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, seamlessly integrated new oak and a silky-smooth finish exerting judicious grip. Very classy.
