The 2014 El Diablo has turned out beautifully. Grenache-inflected aromas and flavors abound, with plenty of succulent red cherry, kirsch, rose petal and mint nuances that give the wine its distinctive voice. Silky tannins add to an impression of total finesse.

The Grenache-based 2014 El Diablo shows terrific delineation and perhaps a touch better balance than the 2013. Graphite, wild flowers and spices wrap around a core of sweet red and blue-leaning stone fruits. Like so many of the 2014s here, the Diablo impresses with its fabulous overall feel. Today, the 2014 looks like a good step up from the 2013.
