The 2016 Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch is medium garnet-purple colored and beautifully scented of crushed mulberries, cherry preserves and raspberry pie with touches of underbrush, baking spices and dusty soil. The palate is very big, rich and full-bodied with velvety tannins and plenty of freshness to lift the long, spicy finish. 279 cases produced.

The 2016 Zinfandel Vellutini Ranch is pliant and supple, with terrific fruit density to match its racy personality. The Vellutini is the most overtly ripe of the Zinfandels in this flight. There is a good deal of immediacy, if perhaps a bit less of the delineation found in some of the other Zinfandels. Even so, the 2016 will drink well for a number of years.
