The 2018 Pinot Noir Troubadour is the product of a large crop in a favorable growing season. Slightly candied red fruit and tart citrus tones open first, but the 2018 is missing some concentration and weight. Bright, zippy acids rip through from start to finish. Drink up.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Cuvee Troubadour pours a medium salmon hue, with attractive aromas of golden orchard fruit, apricot, raspberry, fresh herbs, and roses. Medium-bodied, with a soft, rounded texture, notes of ripe peach and honeydew melon, and delicate salinity on the palate, it’s a more versatile style that can pair well across a broader range of foods. Drink over the next few years.

Bob Cabral recalls 2018 as a "big, big crop," and related how important diligent thinning was this vintage. "A lot of people couldn't believe the number and weight of the clusters," he recalls. "Usually the cluster weights start to decline after veraison, but in 2018 that never happened." Medium ruby-purple, the 2018 Pinot Noir Troubadour is scented of cranberries, blueberries, orange peel and cinnamon with touches of potpourri and licorice. The palate offers generous wild berry fruits, firm but refined tannins and rounded acidity, finishing with a flourish of spicy accents. It's due to be released at the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
