Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,346 g. Aged a year in oak on lees with minimal stirring. Four months in stainless steel afterwards. A one-off bottling composed of six top vineyard sites including the highly sought-after trio of X-Novo, Seven Springs and Freedom Hill. A three-dimensional mosaic of citrus and smoke, from aromas to finish. Bitter orange peel, clementine, yuzu, key lime grilled on a barbecue. A lick of tamarind and lemon marmalade. A Chardonnay with an unusually velvety texture, as 3D as the flavours. The frame fills the corners of the mouth with burnt almond skin, champagne-like toasty savouriness. And on the finish is a lingering twist of sour-cream richness. Elegant and rather moreish. (TC)

The 2020 Chardonnay Bois - Moi opens with flinty tones that give way to plush yellow orchard fruits and wafts of beeswax. Medium-bodied, it has broad, honeyed fruits enlivened by bright acidity, and there's a touch of texture that lengthens the finish.
