Tasting notes
Although the 2019 Chardonnay Frei Road Vineyard has a very different expression than its 2020 counterpart, it's just as delicious and strikes an effortless balance of elegance and power. Warm apples and quince are complemented by tones of saline, white pepper, dried herbs, almonds and toast. The medium-bodied palate is luxuriously silky with concentrated, savory fruit and undulations of fresh acidity. It has a long, dynamic finish that segues from lemon to honey-nut nuances, and a touch of grip drives its flavors on and on.

The 2019 Chardonnay Frei Road Vineyard is aromatic of toasted brioche, custard, smoky reduction, and lemon verbena. The palate is ripe with more sweet fruits of apple candy, lime zest, and salty minerality on the finish that cleans it up nicely. This is a great wine to close out the line-up of Chardonnay. Drink it over the next 10 years.
The 2019 Chardonnay Frei Road Vineyard is a wine of real density and palate presence. If tasted blind, I might have mistaken it for a red wine. There's real depth and concentration behind the lemon confit, mint, spice, marzipan and almond flavors. If opening young, the 2019 needs a few hours of air.
