The 2010 Beaune Les Grèves emerges from the glass with vibrant dark cherries, spices and licorice. It reveals terrific freshness and vibrancy from start to finish. The weight of the old vines (nearly 30 years old) and the wine's underlying minerality work very well together. This is a lovely effort from Drouhin.

This is an impressive showing from Drouhin. In my view the 2010s are more interesting and transparent than the 2009s. Veronique Drouhin describes 2010 as a vintage with long-term aging potential, which certainly seems to be the case. Some of the wines were vinified with a portion of whole clusters, including the Corton-Bressandes, Petits-Monts, Charmes and Musigny. Importer: Dreyfus Ashby & Co., New York, NY; tel. (212) 818-0770

Medium red. High-toned, very expressive aromas of cherry, redcurrant and leather lifted by a floral topnote. Sweet, superripe and lush, with complex flavors of raspberry, leather, flowers and spices over a firm mineral spine. Finishes with broad, dusty tannins, the harmonious acidity nicely carrying the finish. Drouhin's piece of this cru is located high up the hillside. An excellent showing.
