Tasting notes
The 2014 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard (217 cases clocking in at a whopping 16.6% natural alcohol) is absolutely ravishingly rich, extravagantly full-bodied and unctuously textured, with notes of charcuterie, barbecue meats, smoke, herbs, blackberry, cassis and a finish that just oozes over the palate with no hard edges. This is the quintessential old vine Zinfandel and a remarkable effort. Drink it over the next 15-20+ years.

The 2014 Zinfandel Jackass Vineyard, from a site planted in the late 1800s, exudes remarkable pedigree to match its explosive, distinctive personality. Dark red and blue fleshed stone fruits, mint, wild flowers and dark spices meld together in an intense, polished Zinfandel that demands attention. The flavor intensity here is just unreal. Readers should expect a big, bold Zinfandel.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
