Tasting notes
The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Lakeview Vineyard is another standout. Here the fruit is so intense and textured that the tannins are virtually unnoticeable. Black cherries, tar, menthol, savory herbs and iron are some of the many notes that seem to explode from the glass. Despite the wine’s opulence, there is plenty of tension and vibrancy to support the fruit. The 2010 boasts tremendous balance, not to mention tons of pure appeal. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2030. I was deeply struck with the wines I tasted from Harris Estate Vineyards this year. The vineyards are located on the lower slopes of Diamond Mountain. Three separate blocks correspond to the Jake’s Creek, Lakeview and Treva’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. The 2010s have turned out as good or better than I hoped based on last year’s tastings from barrel, while the 2011s, wines from a much more difficult vintage, are solid across the board. Tel.
