Another reasonably good value is their 2012 Proprietary Red Blend Window Pane, a blend of 50% Petite Sirah, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Graciano. I don’t think you’ll find too many wines with that signature blend. The wine is soft, peppery and meaty, with plenty of blue and black fruits, a touch of earth and oak and a soft, round, velvety textured finish. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.

Kobalt's 2012 Windowpane, a Carignane/Petite Sirah/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, comes across as very ripe in this vintage. Dark plums, mint, flowers and cinnamon are some of the notes that emerge from the glass. I find the 2012 a bit overripe, but some readers may appreciate the style a bit more.
