A sleeper selection is the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Coombsville. The dense ruby/purple-tinged 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits terrific fruit on the attack, along with notes of licorice, incense, camphor and crème de cassis. It is a medium to full-bodied, ripe, tasty, well-made, pure 2011 to enjoy over the next 7-8 years.

(from two Coombsville sources): Saturated ruby. Aromas of purple and black fruits lifted by a violet topnote. Intensely flavored but youthfully imploded and not at all opulent today. Conveys a small-berry character and good power and minerality but this clenched cabernet will need time in the cellar to expand.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is terrific. New leather, smoke, tobacco, savory herbs and cedar all add complexity to the dark fruit in this layered, exceptionally polished Cabernet Sauvignon. Once again, winemaker Mark Herold has found a way to get the most out of 2011. This is a terrific showing, especially within the context of the year.
