Tasting notes
(15% alcohol): Bright, saturated ruby. Aromas of blackberry, black plum, violet, licorice, tropical dark chocolate and mocha show both a candied character and high-pitched violet and mint nuances. Very fresh and primary in the mouth, in fact almost youthfully stunted, with strong acidity framing the intense black fruit flavors; juicy, not thick. The very long, perfumed, slowly rising finish is shaped by firm but ripe tannins that saturate the sides of the tongue. Plenty of energy here but still a bit unformed; in fact, it reminded me of a barrel sample. I'd like to come back to this wine in three or four years.

I enjoyed the 2007 Artifact, which includes Petit Verdot and Syrah in the blend. Deep black currant, licorice, white chocolate, earthy, smoky notes are accompanied by full-bodied flavors, sweet tannins, and good freshness as well as precision. Dense and chewy, consumers can enjoy this impressively-endowed 2007 over the next 10-15 years. This tiny estate has a small production, but the quality of its wines is very high. Tel.
