Tasting notes
Heidi Barrett has done a terrific job with her 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon. A distinctly savory, aromatic Cabernet in the style of the year, the 2011 is wonderfully nuanced and a great choice for near and medium-term drinking. Hints of sage, leather, cedar and rosemary are laced into the finish. The 2011 stands out for its balance and overall harmony, both of which are commendable for the year.

The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous wine. Firm, vibrant and tannic at this stage, the 2011 is impressive for its balance. The style is typical La Sirena - voluptuous and fruit-driven - but at the same time there are plenty of savory and mineral notes in the glass to add balance. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and cloves all flesh out on the super--ripe finish. The tannins need time to soften, so readers should plan on cellaring the 2011 for at least a year or two. Heidi Barrett did a fabulous job with her 2011. In this vintage, Barrett opted for shorter macerations than normal because of the fragility of the skins.
