2002 Arietta Merlot Hudson Vineyard

Game, smoke, licorice, incense, cedar and tobacco give the 2002 Merlot Hudson Vineyards a slightly wild, animal personality. Stylistically, the 2002 is one of the more delicate wines in this range. The new oak (100%) is also perhaps a bit much. Even so, the 2002 is endowed with terrific balance and plenty of class. I would prefer to drink it over the next few years at most.
