The 2019 Proprietary White Mekerra is gorgeous. Bright punchy aromatic, orchard fruit, sage, tobacco, mint and green pear lend striking vibrancy to this finely-cut, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc. The 2019 is a total knock-out, especially in the way it balances energy and textural richness.
All Sauvignon Blanc from a site in Knights Valley, the 2019 Mekerra Proprietary White was fermented in tank and aged in 50% new French oak. It reveals a medium gold hue as well as Bordeaux Blanc-like nose of lemon curd, white flowers, melon, and crushed stone, with hints of brioche and subtle nuttiness developing with time in the glass. Medium-bodied and both rich and racy on the palate, it delivers smoking acidity and a great finish. It's going to evolve for two decades if you're so inclined.
A barrel sample, the 2019 Mekerra Sauvignon Blanc explodes with exuberant notes of pineapple, passion fruit, ripe peaches and grapefruit with hints of chalk dust and coriander seed. Medium to full-bodied, it has a seriously racy backbone cutting through the intense tropical and stone fruit layers, finishing with epic length and bags of minerals.
