Tasting notes
Made from DuMol's Estate Vineyard, this Green Valley Pinot gives notes of briar in a field of both red and dark fruit (without sweetness), and a light saline crunch throughout. There is a darker flavour focus here than Dumol’s other West Sonoma offerings, with. a nice balance of concentration, lift, and mouthwatering length. (ECB)

The 2012 Pinot Noir Estate is another wine that has turned out even better than I had expected. Ripe, juicy and explosive, the 2012 captures the essence of the Russian River in its expansive, resonant personality and pure breath. A host of deeply spiced notes wrap around the super expressive finish. The 2012 could use another year or two in bottle, as the tannins remain imposing.
The 2012 Pinot Noir Estate is made from three clones – the Calera, Joseph Swan and clone 943. A fragrant perfume of black and blue fruits, tree bark, truffles, roasted herbs and subtle charcoal embers emerges from this broodingly rich, intense, full-bodied, concentrated yet still youthful Pinot Noir. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Only 890 cases were produced.
The 2012 Pinot Noir Estate is one of the riper and more flamboyant Pinots in this range. Here the fruit takes on darker tonalities of red, along with attractive layers of spiciness that add complexity. There is a sense of resonance in the 2012 that is hugely appealing. I expect the 2012 to offer a wide window of drinkability. Today, it is superb.
