Brilliant ruby-red. High-pitched red berry, blood orange and floral scents are complemented by deeper-pitched hints of smoke and cola. Spicy and incisive on the palate, offering vibrant raspberry and bitter cherry flavors and a touch of white pepper. The blood orange note comes back on the stony finish, which clings with excellent floral intensity. I like the tension of this racy pinot.

A cooler, more savory side of the Russian River comes through in the 2012 Pinot Noir Laguna, largely because of the presence of the Martini clone in this site. Sage, rosemary crushed rose petals and sweet spices all waft from the glass in a mid-weight Pinot loaded with class and personality.
