A complex and layered wine that has tons of personality, the 2006 Sorella checks in as blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. It offers savoriness, wild herbs, black currants, smoked herbs, olives and earth in a deep, layered, rich and full-bodied profile. Complex and beautifully balanced, this is a gorgeous wine that has 10+ years of prime drinking ahead of it. This was an incredible showing, and while 2006 was a more difficult vintage than the more heralded 2007, this beauty matches the 2007 Sorella in terms of quality.

Dense, concentrated, syrupy fruit. Firm, grippy Cabernet tannin – bold and confident. (RH)
(71% cabernet sauvignon, 17% merlot, 8% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot) Bright ruby-red. Higher-pitched and more perfumed aromas than the 2007: cherry, spices, lavender and white pepper. Then sweet, firm and tangy in the mouth, with firm acids framing the cherry flavor. The impression of stronger acidity gives drive to the wine, but it also displays a velvety-smooth texture and conveys a strong impression of extract. Finishes bright, long and firmly structured. The 2007 may be denser wine, but this is serious and long too: it will be interesting to compare these two vintage in six or seven years.
