Ruby-red. Aromas of dark berries, cola, licorice and minerals, with a spicy quality adding vibrancy. Rich and broad but lively on the palate, offering sappy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors plus hints of anise and candied flowers. The densest and most powerful of these Anthill pinots this year, but in no way a heavyweight. Finishes sweet, strong and long, with echoing licorice and cola notes,

Anthill's 2012 Pinot Noir Campbell Ranch Vineyard is striking, but it is also a bit compact. Sweet tobacco, autumn leaves, mint, white pepper and dried cherries are all nicely layered in the glass. This is one of the more delicate, subtle wines in the range. Sweet floral and spice notes linger on the feminine finish.
