Tasting notes
Dark cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and cloves are some of the many notes that emerge from Paul Lato's 2013 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard. Despite its considerable intensity, the 2013 is quite shut down today. Still, the wine's overall balance is impeccable. In particular, the new oak, which can at times be noticeable in these wines, is nicely integrated. With air, the Lancelot becomes increasingly refined.

One of the more tight and backward efforts in the vintage, the 2013 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard has a focused, pure and edgy style in its sweet black cherry, blackberry, spring flowers and distinct wet rock-like minerality. It shows more rose petal and floral notes with air, but also closed down slightly, so give bottles another year or two in the cellar. This is a gorgeous Pinot Noir that's a solid step up from the 2012.
