Tasting notes
The 2015 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard is superb. Pliant, explosive and powerful, with striking inner perfume, the Lancelot captures all the best qualities of this famed Santa Lucia Highlands site. Deep floral and spice notes are woven through a core of dark fruit in this super-expressive, captivating Pinot from Paul Lato.

Pale to medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard leaps from the glass with intense red cherries, crushed raspberries and red rose notes plus underlying anise, cinnamon stick, underbrush and garrigue nuances. Medium-bodied with oh-so-plush, velvety tannins and seamless freshness framing the concentrated red fruit and spice layers, it finishes long and decadent.
Coming from the Santa Lucia Highlands and a site located on the southern end and granite soils, the 2015 Pinot Noir Lancelot Pisoni Vineyard was completely destemmed and brought up in the standard 65% new French oak. Its deep ruby color is followed by killer notes of black raspberries, blueberries, violets, spice and spring flowers. Rich and textured, yet also tight and focused, it's unquestionably the most fruit forward, rich and concentrated in the lineup. It's a sensational Pinot Noir from this difficult vintage. Paul Lato is unquestionably one of my favorite winemakers in the Central Coast, and I continue to love his wines. While I found 2015 to be a difficult vintage, you wouldn’t know it by tasting through this lineup.
