Tasting notes
Inky purple with a fuchsia rim. Powdery floral character with violets and vanilla. Really muscular, tight tannins and linear acidity. Compact and concentrated with Assam tea and dried black plum on the finish. (SCJ)

All Syrah, the 2021 Authenticity comes mostly from the Paderewski Vineyard (94%) and the rest from the York Mountain Vineyard, and it was aged 18 months in French oak barrels and puncheons. Its saturated purple hue is followed by a behemoth styled nose of ripe blue and black fruits, ground pepper, iron, and graphite. This carries to a full-bodied Syrah that has a deep, layered, unctuous mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. Despite its overall size and richness, this stays flawlessly balanced and light on its feet.
The 2021 Authenticity is gorgeous. It bursts from the glass with a whiff of violet pastille and smoky mineral tones before giving way to crushed blackberries. Soothingly round and supple, it washes across the palate with ripe red and black fruits offset by rosy inner florals and spice. This finishes with a tactile mineral tinge and bitter blackberry concentration, leaving a coating of fine tannins that frame the experience beautifully.
The 2021 Authenticity comes mostly from the Paderewski Vineyard (plus 6% from York Mountain) and was matured for 18 months in 48% new French oak barrels and puncheons. It has a pure, alluring perfume of lilac and lavender complementing its dark fruit, plus accents of menthol, bitter chocolate and oolong tea leaves. The full-bodied palate balances concentrated, nuanced fruit with abundant, grainy tannins and bursts of refreshing acidity, and it has a very long, perfumed finish. 540 cases were made, which will be released in the fall of 2024.
