Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2010-2022, Robert Parker, Dec 2010
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon also performed better this year than last. It offers a deep ruby/purple color along with notes of chocolate, black currants, smoke and scorched earth. Deep, elegant and medium to full-bodied, the 2008 is not quite as flamboyant and textured as the 2007, but it is beautifully made, pure and impressive. It should drink well for 12+ years. (Not yet released) This small, 12-acre, boutique operation on the south side of Diamond Mountain debuted in 2006 (awarded 91 points in last year’s report). Approximately 350 cases of this wine made by well-known consultant Martha McClellen are produced. Fax (707) 942-8512; info@checkerboardvineyards.com
