The 2018 Red Blend Faultline Vineyard has aged decently, but it’s also time to drink any remaining bottles. Slightly awkward contours and gently fading fruit are signs that the 2018 is past its ideal drinking window. An aggressive new oak regime in a hot growing season seems to have accelerated the aging curve. Two bottles tasted with consistent notes.

Savory dark fruits, tobacco, loamy soil, and chocolate notes emerge from the 2018 Faultline Vineyard, a Cabernet Franc-dominated blend that includes 41% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Malbec. Aged 19 months in 50% new oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a terrific sense of purity and elegance, light tannins, and outstanding length. Enjoy bottles over the coming 10-15 years.
