Tasting notes
The 2021 Metisse Cabernet Sauvignon Martinez Vineyard is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot that's from a site on Pritchard Hill. Its deep ruby/plum hue gives way to a gorgeous nose of cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and crushed stone, followed by a full-bodied, concentrated red, with a deep, layered mid-palate and a great finish.

The most intense, concentrated of the trio of wines Melka presented, the 2021 Metisse Martinez features scents of crushed stone, mixed red and black cherries and some brighter berry notes (redcurrants, cranberries?). A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot from a vineyard on Pritchard Hill, it's full-bodied and richly concentrated, firmly structured but fully ripe, with a long, vibrant and zesty finish.
More ruby/purple-hued, with a sexy, spicy, savory style in its cassis and black raspberry fruits, the 2021 Martinez is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, all from the western side of Pritchard Hill. Dried flowers, loamy earth, and more spicy, toasty notes emerge with air, and it's medium to full-bodied, has ripe, present tannins, and a great finish.
