Tasting notes
Muskmelon liqueur laced with glazed pineapple and candied orange peel informs a fetching nose and a seductively creamy, buoyant palate. This displays the clarity, bright primary juiciness and energy that typically characterize Müller-Catoir Rieslaner but were in short supply in this year’s Schlössel Auslese. A welcome influx of salinity captures the salivary glands on a resonant finish and renders the next sip irresistible.

The 2015 Rieslaner Auslese Haardter Herzog is very clear and precise on the nose, with lemon and grapefruit flavors. Dense and almost oily in its texture, this is a well-structured, grippy and really sweet Rieslaner with a piquant acidity and grip. Still young and concentrated, but with good ageing potential. 9.5% alcohol.
