Tasting notes
The 2016 Chardonnay Absolutely Eloise (aged for 16 months in 70% new French oak) sings of lemongrass, lime leaves and pink grapefruit with hints of pineapple and melon plus wafts of orange blossoms, brioche, ginger ale and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, creamy, intense and decadent in the mouth, the palate gives layer upon layer of exotic fruit and spice, finishing on a lingering mineral note. 246 cases produced.

Another wine that has a Chablis-on-steroids style, the 2016 Chardonnay Absolutely Eloise boasts a huge nose of lemon curd, poached pear, oyster shell, and white flowers. It's powerful and full-bodied, yet as with all of these releases from Boswell, has a vibrant, elegant, lively style that goes on and on in the finish. This release comes 50% from Sebastopol Vineyard, 30% from Rued Vineyard, and the rest from Ritchie Vineyard, and was fermented and aged in 70% new French oak. These brilliant wines from Chateau Boswell are made by renowned winemaker/consultant Philippe Melka, with assistants from Allison Nunnikhoven. I found all f the wines to have classic, balanced, age-worthy profiles, and they’re some of the gems in this report.
