Tasting notes
The 2022 H Block Red Wine is based largely on Cabernet Franc and is a beautiful effort in this challenging vintage. Ripe red and black fruits, roasted tobacco, chocolate, and leafy herb notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, and beautiful length. It's a surprisingly concentrated, rich, almost foursquare 2022 to drink over the coming decade.

A co-fermented blend of 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Merlot, Arietta's 2022 H Block Hudson Vineyards spent 20 months in 76% new oak yet doesn't show it, with pristine leafy-floral scents emerging on the nose, joined by deep notes of tobacco and black cherries. Full-bodied and concentrated, this lush wine shows great intensity across the mid-palate, then tremendous assertiveness and length on the finish married to softly dusty tannins and great energy. It's a superb effort, one that looks to rival the best vintages of this unique wine.
The 2022 Red Wine H Block Hudson Vineyards is another impressive wine from Carneros. Red, blue, and black fruits, floral nuances, and a kiss of chocolate all define the aromatics, and it's full-bodied, with a mouth-filling texture and ripe, nicely integrated tannins. It's clearly an outstanding wine.
The 2022 H Block Hudson Vineyards is supremely elegant. Aromatic and delicate, with fine balance, the 2022 is every bit as strong as it was last year. Crushed flowers, slate, mint, white pepper and blood orange lend notable aromatic brightness to this Cabernet Franc/Merlot co-ferment. Grippy tannins and bright acids mark the close.
