Tasting notes
Blueberries, brioche, and exotic litchi and flower aromas emerge from the 2003 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard The Terraces (95% Syrah and 5% Viognier aged in 100% new French oak). It possesses a tannic structure and firmness along with gorgeous fruit, purity, and an intensity that must be tasted to be believed. whereas It will need 1-3 years of bottle age, and should last much longer than the Alder Springs. (includes 5% co-fermented viognier) Good full medium ruby. Multidimensional nose combines dark fruits, violet, black licorice and black pepper. Lush, dense and thick but uncompromisingly dry. The broadest and silkiest of these 2003 syrahs, but this is very backward despite its outstanding palate coverage. The flavors of blackberry and cookie dough are ripe but not at all overly so. Hints at orange baby aspirin. Very dense and dry on the back end, with the tannins buried in fruit.
