Tasting notes
The 2017 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard is wonderfully layered and expressive, while also remaining very much light on its feet. Yellow orchard fruit, chamomile, wild flowers lemon confit and earthy notes all run through this super-expressive Chardonnay, with a touch of the light tropical overtones that are such a signature of this Sonoma Coast site.

The 2017 Chardonnay Charles Heintz Vineyard from Ceritas is a bit of a let-down. Overtly tropical on the nose with pineapple and peachy scents, it doesn’t have the class of the preceding Chardonnays. The palate is, again, a little too tropical for my taste, with guava, pineapple and mandarin notes, though the finish requires more tension and delineation. Not bad, but it felt a bit predictable, and I have drunk better.
