Tasting notes
The 2016 Cabernet Franc 29 Estate (there's 6% Cabernet Sauvignon) is a beauty and 2016 was an undeniable success for Cabernet Franc (and Merlot as well). Sensationally complex and layered notes of black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, spring flowers, graphite, and forest floor all emerge from this silky, incredibly refined 2016 that has a Cheval Blanc-like level of nuance and class. Give it 3-5 years if you can.

The 2016 Cabernet Franc 29 Estate is powerful and tightly wound. The pedigree and character of Franc here, on the Vineyard 29 Estate vineyard, is evident, and yet the wine is in no mood to show all of its cards. I am quite curious to see what happens with time in bottle.
Containing 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep purple-black colored 2016 Cabernet Franc 29 Estate is a little mute to begin, slowly revealing scents of warm redcurrants, black raspberries and freshly crushed blackberries with touches of lilacs, Sichuan pepper, cinnamon stick, stewed tea and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegant and relatively restrained with the savory flavors nicely framed by chewy tannins, finishing on a cranberry tea note.
