Tasting notes
The 2022 Pinot Noir Swan Terrace is the pinnacle of sophistication within the Rhys lineup. Fermented with 50% whole clusters, the nose here is the most three-dimensional and flashy, a fantastic combination of perfectly ripe red fruits, citrus peels, fresh herbs, tobacco leaves and turned earth that continuously evolves and transforms. In the mouth, it perfectly combines richness and weightlessness, injecting both with a twisted, coiled texture that never stops morphing across the kaleidoscopically complex palate. The finish is assertive yet measured, patiently delivered layer after layer of its profoundly muscular tannin structure. It was a tough call between this and the supremely refined Skyline bottling, but the spectacular length and additional twists and turns of texture gave this a slight edge. This will take longer to come around fully, but it will be an incredibly pleasurable journey to experience.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Swan Terrace is once again one of the most distinctive wines in the lineup. It emerges from a small section of the Alpine Vineyard planted mostly with Swan Clone Pinot plantings that have mutated over time. Juicy and effusive, with gorgeous fruit, the 2022 offers tons of immediacy. Soft, racy tannins wrap around a core of dark red/purplish-toned fruit, rose petals, cinnamon, cedar and new leather. Floral and savory overtones appear later to round things out in style. - Antonio Galloni
