Elliot Vineyard is tucked between Hellenthal Vineyards and the easternmost boundary of the Hirsch Vineyard. Planted in 1981 to the Mt Eden clone of Pinot Noir. Very floral, perfumed notes. Restrained, certainly not a fruit bomb but elegant, precise and focused on the palate. It would be easy to drink lots of this. Already at optimum but will last for several years. (AWH)

The 2019 Pinot Noir Elliott is a deep, dense wine, but always within the context of the Ceritas Pinots. There’s real depth and gravitas here, tempered by a style that seeks finesse more than power. Small clusters and small berries on a site rich in blue schist and quartz yield a distinctive Pinot built on resonance and power. Clean mineral notes support the bracing finish. The 60% whole clusters are very nicely balanced.

Transparent ruby. Quite a sweet nose with just a hint of sweatiness and a very readable palate with fine tannins pretty evident on the finish. (JR)

Created in 2005 by John Raytek, Ceritas is one of California’s most exciting producers. The project is focused on making single-site wines from Northern California’s coastal regions, largely Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
