Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon emerges from the highest blocks on the property, those that are next to Colgin. Nervy and bright, the 2018 possesses good energy and drive. Black cherry, plum, mocha, spice, licorice and chocolate all meld together in this sculpted yet dense Cabernet. There's terrific depth and density here.

The rich, cedar-stained 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon needs a bit of time still to digest its oak. Menthol and toast dominate the nose, but give it a bit of time in the glass and the cassis and blackberry fruit begins to come through. It's full-bodied and velvety in feel, not quite as broad and plush as the Proprietary Blend but perhaps a touch more focused and streamlined. Both the 2018 and 2019 vintages have turned out well at this boutique property, located high on the slopes of Pritchard Hill. Purchased in 2019 by former Apple execs Jim Bean and Christine O'Sullivan, the vineyards are undergoing conversion to biodynamic principles. Consultant Philippe Melka has been involved with Brand since the project's inception.
