Bright medium ruby. Black fruit and violet aromas are complemented by notes of tobacco and earth. Plush, thick and mouthfilling if a bit unrestrained, conveying a slightly medicinal cast and flavors ranging from dark chocolate to dried mountain herbs. The wine's substantial dusty tannins still need a bit more time to harmonize with its fruit but there's excellent stuffing and soil character here. Lacks only the finishing verve for an even higher score.

Blackberries, blueberries, tar, violets and mint are some of the notes that flow from this sublime, textured Cabernet. This is more reticent and medium in body than most 2009s. It shows exquisite finesse and tons of subtlety. A long, exquisite finish rounds out this exceptional wine. Simply put, this is a stunning showing.
