Tasting notes
A dark, fleshy wine, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyrus Ryan Vineyard is a real beauty. All the elements fall into place gracefully as the 2012 shows off its class. The flavors are bold, racy and expressive, yet the 2012 retains a mid-weight sense of structure that balances some of the wine's more overt leanings. Drink this dark, fleshy Cabernet Sauvignon over the next 10-15 years.

In top vintages, the winery produces two single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Cyrus Ryan Vineyard comes from a tiny 2-acre vineyard on the Napa Valley floor, on the eastern side of the valley off the Silverado Trail. It displays lots of classic cassis, loamy soil, licorice and spice notes, a projected, open-knit set of aromatics, good flesh, acidity and freshness, and a long, full-bodied mouthfeel. This beauty is their most limited production cuvée. More open-knit and broader, it will undoubtedly be quicker to evolve than Barnett’s mountain Cabernets.
