Score 85/100 · Drink 1990, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1981 is precociously soft and intensely fruity, with a complex cedary, herbaceous bouquet, medium body, and lush, nicely concentrated flavors. The 1981 is a success for the vintage. However, this vintage of Clos des Jacobins gets overwhelmed in the company of the remarkable 1982 and big-styled 1983 wines. Anticipated maturity: Now-may be in decline. Last tasted, 11/90.
