Tasting notes
The 2001 Cignale is another deeply expressive effort from Castello di Querceto. Perhaps slightly more nuanced in its aromatics than the 2003, the 2001 presents layers of sweet dark fruit, earthiness and tobacco that flow onto the palate with notable concentration and length. Made in a style that is somewhat more understated - if that is the right word - it beautifully balances opulence with the wine's structural components. The tannins are big and building on the finish suggesting that this wine will benefit from additional cellaring.
