Tasting notes
The 2013 Dassault offers light cranberry and crushed strawberry on the nose, but it is fleeting and ephemeral, a bouquet that could blow away in the lightest breeze. The palate is hard on the entry but there is some fruit behind it. It feels blocky, rather dry with a clipped, slightly bitter finish. I was expecting a little more here given its showing from barrel. Perhaps it will improve with bottle age since there is decent substance.

Really sweet fruit with plumpness and purity. Has a baked but not burnt quality and subtle spice. An impressive result in terms of flavour, though the substance and stuffing is lighter than usual. Hugely enjoyable as an early-drinking vintage. (RH)
Lots of flashy new oak giving a sweet spiciness on the nose. Pretty light black-fruit character – this could do with a bit more oomph. Too reliant on wood flavours, for me. (RH)
