The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant effort. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by sweet black currant/cassis fruit, and licorice aromas and flavors. This elegant, tasty, well-made Cabernet can be enjoyed young because of its low acidity, yet it possesses the capacity to age well for a decade. Dark ruby, but without the saturation of superior cabernet. Vanilla, blackcurrant, mint and rosemary on the nose. Ample and round on the palate, with cassis, sage and rosemary flavors. The finish is firm and sustained, with supple tannins. But, like the Rosso del Conte, this doesn't quite possess the power or follow-through of the best past vintages.
