Tasting notes
Barolo. Surprisingly deep ruby for its age. Quite subtle, savoury. Richer and more developed on the palate. Not the most refined, but lots and lots of length. Enjoyable. (WS)

The 2001 Barolo Liste is a masculine, brooding Barolo, darker in color, and offering aromas of menthol and tar along with masses of dark, backward fruit on a large-scaled, somewhat austere frame, finishing with substantial tannins. Today this shows a lot of oak, but it also has plenty of structure, and seems to be a potentially outstanding Barolo.

Bright ruby-red. High-pitched, vibrant aromas of cherry, rose petal, bitter chocolate, licorice, spices, mint and porcini mushroom. Thick, dense and strong; combines a seamless texture and very good brightness and cut. Finishes with big, granular, ripe tannins and impressive sweetness.
