Medium-deep red. Pure, complex nose offers cherry, minerals, peony, smoked ham and hints of prune and fig. Suave on entry, then silky and voluminous in the middle (this is 13.5% alcohol), but with a sappy quality keeping the sweet fruit lively and fresh. Finishes with terrific building length, sap and subtlety. This one may ultimately merit an even higher score.

Medium red. Distinctly wild, perfumed aromas of red fruits, milk chocolate and underbrush. Fat, sweet and very ripe but not at all heavy. Less minerally and vibrant than some of these 2005s but subtle and classy nonetheless, even elegant in the context of the cru. Finishes with excellent viscosity and fine tannins. This is a moderate 13.3% alcohol and was the first to finish its malolactic fermentation, in June.
