Tasting notes
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is a bigger, more structured wine. Lots of ripe black cherries, currants, graphite, sandalwood, and dried herb notes define the bulk of the bouquet, and this puppy hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, the more straight, focused style of the vintage, and firmer, yet polished tannins. It's a classic, age-worthy Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. It remains to be seen if its tannins will ever truly integrate, but this has lots to like.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon comes across as quite delicate in 2017. Bright red-toned fruit, spice, cedar and pipe tobacco all lend notable brightness. In most vintages, the Barrett & Barrett has been a pretty somber, muscular wine, but the 2017 is decidedly gracious to the point of being understated. It is a very pretty wine, but also quite atypical.
