(an 85/15 blend of merlot and cabernet franc) Bright ruby. Ripe black cherry on the nose. Sweet, supple and pliant, with moderately concentrated flavors of black cherry and bitter chocolate. A rather gentle style, finishing with sweet, easygoing tannins.

Very deep crimson. Very distinctive – still quite oaky and quite high acidity. Lots of very obvious fruit, a big contrast to its stablemate Petite Eglise. Very astringent finish. The owner has chosen a different tonnelier from theone used by Eglise Clinet apparently, Nadalié not Durantou’s favourite Darnajou of Lalande de Pomerol. And it’s obvious – more vanilla. (JR)
