Full gold with a bronze tinge. Exotic tropical fruits, honeycomb and nutty oak on the nose, plus a whiff of strawberry; smells like a Champagne with some pinot noir. Rich but quite dry, with a stony flavor and a slightly disjointed edge of acidity. Over the top for a chardonnay from this top producer. Where can this go from this point? A disappointing vintage for this wine. (A second bottle was at once more flat and more phenolic, with a whiff of crab apple.)
