One of the more balanced and elegant early releases from Maury is the 2013 Maury Doux Vintage. Exhibiting lots of blackberry liqueur, plums, black licorice and some garrigue/smoked herbs aromas and flavors, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, no hard edges and a seamless texture that carries through the finish. It’s beautiful wine to drink over the coming 4-5 years (although it will certainly keep longer).

Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Intense, almost Zinfandel berry aromas on the nose. But it falls away a little on the palate. It’s not really all that sweet nor does it taste that alcoholic. Rather a strange beast. Falls away. (JR)
