Tasting notes
The 2016 Soave Classico La Froscà is rich and alluring with notes of dried peach, sweet white flowers and honeyed almonds. It displays wonderful clarity and poise while stimulating the senses with bright acids and minerals before settling on ripe orchard fruits. A twang of sour citrus and apricot resonates throughout the long and almost salty finish. I tasted the 2016 over the course of two days and it only got better each time I revisited it. The La Froscà matures in a combination of 80% steel tanks and 20% barriques, yet there’s not a hint of wood here.

Certified organic. Light spring honey and linden leaf. Very floral in the mouth, oranges and peaches and raw chopped pecan. Lovely dance threading between sweet, bitter and green-leaf sharp. Really pretty, so fresh and so moreish with a gentle, light-bodied roundness. Yum. (TC)
To be released onto the market soon. Pale-mid gold. Floral tones, over delicate apple, white peach and subtle nutty almond. Some smoky and ‘saline’ aromatic notes. Saline, spiced and smoky entry to the palate, with melon, pear and ripe, red apple. Bright acidity with a hint of sweetness – perhaps a couple of grams of sugar. Nutty, spicy finish with a firmness of structure. Long and harmonious. Can be approached now, but has the stuffing to age well. (TJ)
Single vineyard, 80-year-old vines. A little more herbal than the Classico and more rocky. Dry, chewy, fresh with both pear and citrus. Lovely intensity and elegance. GV (JH)
