Tasting notes
Fontanafredda's 2013 Barolo is a juicy, simple wine to drink now and over the next few years, while the mid-weight structure and modest complexity holds at least some interest.

Fruit for this wine is sourced from across the appellation and much of it is purchased. In fact, Fontanafredda is one of the largest buyers of fruit in the region. The 2013 Barolo is an appellation-wide expression made with Nebbiolo picked in Monforte d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra and Serralunga d'Alba. The farmers are encouraged to follow certain house rules such as the elimination of chemicals to achieve consistency. This is an immediate and direct wine with streamlined aromas of wild berry, tar, truffle and cola. You also get a distant hint of roasted chestnut that comes from the botte grande.
