Scented and sweet-fruited. Really rather unusually sweet for the vintage! Lots to enjoy. (JR)

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet Villages has a lively, feisty bouquet with effervescent orange peel and citrus scents. The palate has good weight in the mouth, but perhaps just lacks a little nervosité towards the finish. This is just a bit workmanlike in the context of its fellow whites from Leroux.

(aging in 300-liter barrels): Very pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of apple, peach, ginger and clove. A nicely balanced, expressive village wine with stone fruit and spice flavors complicated by salty mineralty. Finishes firm and alive. A very successful blend from vines planted on flat, rich soil as well as at higher altitude. This wine finished its malo early and was sulfured two months before my visit.
